Check Your Flow

If you read the title and are thinking about menstural cycles, baseball boys hair styles, or literally anything else.... I'm sorry to disappoint. Today I'm talking about checking your flow before flying. This is an important routine checklist that every pilot uses before takeoff. If you don't already know, my step-Dad is a pilot. While most of the time I get irritated by his cautiously calculated actions before LITERALLY EVERYTHING, I'm beginning to see the importance the older I get (don't let him know I said this). Also, if you don't think all pilots are this meticulous, you are sadly mistaken.... yes, even Peter from the bachelor.

We may not be manning a Boeing 737, but we are still the captain of our own flight. Here are some things you should check before you wreck it!

1. NO SNAKES ON THE PLANE- If you've ever seen that movie you should know that it's absolutely terrifying. This is SO true in life. Nobody wants to sit next to someone who makes the flight uncomfortable. Get those types of people out of your life. If you have a 'friend' that leaves you drained after every conversation, brings drama into your life, and doesn't 100% support you in everything you do... Grab the parachute honey. Goodbye. We are into our twenties and we don't have time for that high school energy.

2. DEAR GOD, CHECK THE SPEEDBRAKES- There's nothing worse than running full force onto the runway and not being able to stop. I am not great at this... Don't tell my Dad but most of the time I just get in my car and drive. I even drove my car all the way to Colorado this summer while my brakes were going out (I know, I know). How this relates to your real life is knowing when to pump the brakes. Are you able to tell people 'no' when you're already feeling stressed or overwhelmed? We don't want you running yourself straight into the ground. Check the brakes please!

3. DO YOU HAVE FUEL FOR THE JOURNEY?- Have you prayed, meditated, or even just relaxed today? However you choose to fill your cup make sure it's full before you start pouring from it. How are you suppose to safely deliver passengers if you're running on fumes?!

4. SEATBELT & OXYGEN MASK!- Safety first, amiright? Surround yourself with people who care and love you. Make sure you have a safety net. It's easy to have everyone around while you're flying but whose got you when you're going down? On the note of going down.... PUT YOUR MASK ON FIRST BEFORE HELPING OTHERS!!

5. SET YOURSELF UP FOR AUTOPILOT- Now that we're ready for takeoff make sure you've got the autopilot ready to enjoy the flight. You still need to be aware and cautious of your surroundings but don't take it so hard...

Enjoy the flight.
