The Mantra Is LOVE

This is my very first blog... Give me a break please!
So, I just finished reading Rediscover the Saints by Matthew Kelly. Honestly, I was expecting a historical, sorta lame, biography of some of the more popular saints. PLOT TWIST: it was nothing like that at all (GO READ IT YOURSELF). Anyway, the point of this post is what I learned from this book. WE CAN ALL BECOME SAINTS! How truly amazing and absolutely terrifying is that? Someday some lame college student could be reading about your story. Now I don't know about you, but my story thus far has been far from significant and at times far from holy moments (sorry Mom). Matthew Kelly says, "what do you believe about your past that is keeping you from your future?" When I first read that I was like "duh" I've done a lot of things that have kept me from God's will for me. Then I read Saint Augustine's story. The man had given into almost every worldly pleasure it has to offer. Then he was like, "Nah Lord, my heart doesn't rest until it rests in YOU!"He gave up EVERY SINGLE self-destructive habit and put his full heart into GOD. Now he's a SAINT! A SAINT! A GREAT SINNER TURNED GREAT SAINT!!! It also helped that his mother SAINT Monica prayed for him every day and hoped he would turn back to a life with Christ (thanks Mom!). As the new year begins I pray that your life enters a new season of Grace. Do not be afraid to discover who you really are and who you are MEANT to become. Do not be afraid to give up habits or people who do not help you become the best-version-of yourself! Basically the whole point of this book proved that saints really only became saints because they got fed up with the trajectory of their life and they changed. Key word: CHANGED! They LOVED everyone they came in counter with, the SERVED others as if they were Jesus themselves, and they took ordinary everyday moments and created holy moments. They were the type of people that even atheists couldn't deny because they were LOVE, GRACE, and HOLY! They made everyone they came encounter with feel different, no, BETTER. They made the world better. Isn't that what we should strive to do? As Judah and The Lion says in the song Passion Fashion, "I got love, yeah, makin' that my mantra." And that my friends, is my mantra for this year.
In Christ,
B
